Based in Groningen, in the North of the Netherlands,

I started making cups and bowls a few years ago.

I throw them on the wheel, use moulds or carve them out of a lump of clay. The latter technique is called ‘kurinuki’; a Japanese -zen meditative- way of working with clay. More and more I prefer to use this method, because of the characteristic result.

The uncovered mat clay body is most attractive to me, therefor I use little to no glaze. Because most glazes contain toxics, this also benefits the environment. My electric kiln is fired from bio-power.
